Job Responsibilities : Accounting Manager

Salary : $72,000 – $85,000 a year

The duties include:

Plans and leads internal controls and quality assurance reviews of general ledger transactions and effort reporting for sponsored research. Conducts interviews and/or performs walk-throughs with key process owners to obtain an understanding of the business process, assesses risk, and tests transactions and controls. Identifies and documents key controls in place for each major function to ensure risk can be properly controlled. Analyzes accounting and interview data in collaboration with the Accountant II to identify opportunities for business process improvements. Proposes practical and value-added recommendations to address control weaknesses and/or process inefficiencies. Coordinates with the Assistant Controller to develop a recommended action plan based on review outcomes, share results with applicable leadership, and assist business process owners with implementation and progress checks. Establishes reasonable timeframe for follow up with process owners.

Serves as liaison for internal and external auditors, as well as the University’s Component Units. Coordinates entrance and exit conferences, responses to audit memos, audit findings and recommendations. Tracks and communicates requests with the Assistant Controller and ensures timely responses from University of Florida. Coordinates with the University’s Component Units the completion of requests from the University of Florida’s core office, Board or trustees, or outside entities.

Expected Salary:

$72,000 – $85,000 annually; commensurate with education and experience.

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area and six years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

This position must be proficient in Microsoft Office and experience with University of Florida operations is preferred.
