The Virtual Health Assistant works in conjunction with primary care clinicians who provide healthcare solutions and clinical excellence to patients through virtual primary care services using real-time audio-visual engagement. All duties and responsibilities are to be performed in compliance with state and federal laws and department policies and procedures.

Primary Responsibiliries:

Other Major Responsibilities:
- Reviews charts and records for completeness
- Collects and documents health data (e.g. chief complaint, allergies, medical history including current medications, social history, etc.) prior to visit with provider. Documents height, weight, and vital signs
- Facilitates telehealth services by rooming patients in preparation for appointments. Ready the patient by checking quality of audio/video equipment and setting such as room lighting. Notify provider when patient is ready for visit
- Accommodates the patient’s needs, preferences, and potential cultural, social, physical, cognitive, and linguistic and communication barriers to technology use

- Demonstrates how to troubleshoot basic technology failures and optimize settings with the technology being used
- Use best practices in telepresence skills to create a positive patient-clinician rapport and a meaningful encounter through technology
- Serves as a primary point of contact between patient and health care team to anticipate and appropriately address patient questions and concerns
- Facilitates the identification, recommendation and appropriate enrollment to health programs, patient transportation and other community-based assistance or support programs for selected patient population
- Assists in care delivery through the provision of scripted health education, instructions, and follow up care. Documents care delivery in line with current policies and procedures
- Transcribes clinical and other information to and from electronic health record and other required applications or systems
- Ensures ongoing coordinated management of patient care with appropriate resource allocations, referrals and notifications that are purposeful, supportive and interconnected with team members.
- Notifies care coordination team of patient requests, need for referral and facilitates referrals.
- Conducts patient outreach to facilitate patient understanding of virtual and other healthcare services
- Comply with OSHA and HIPAA requirements, and policies and procedures as outlined by MedExpress and Optum Virtual Care
- Complete other duties as assigned such as new models of care, new types of procedures, use of new technology, etc.

Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 1+ years of experience in a healthcare setting
- Customer service experience
- Experience with electronic health records
- Experience using audio/visual technology or video conferencing platforms
- Knowledge of healthcare practices and medical vocabulary
- Access to high speed internet and phone lines
Preferred Qualifications:
- 2+ years of college
- Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), or Certified Medical Assistant (CMA)
- Experience in a primary care setting
- Telehealth certification
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work efficiently and effectively in fast paced, innovative environment
- Ability to effectively manage multiple, competing priorities
- Ability to work independently and as part of a high performing team
Working Conditions:
- Works autonomously but maintains close working relationships with medical director, physicians, other advanced practitioners, medical team members and other clinic/center staff as needed
- Maintains open lines of communication with the Optum Virtual team
- Remote, non-center based
- Needs to have a private space that is compliant with the telecommuter policy requirements to be able to maintain HIPAA standards
- Must have access to high speed internet and phone lines
- Ability to stand and sit for hours at a time (with some bending and stooping), ability to use manual dexterity in relation to clinical requirements and ability to lift 50 lbs

Colorado Residents Only: The hourly range for Colorado residents is $15.00 to $22.02.
